Not Another Happy Ending

During the week when I purchased both of the films Filth & How I Live Now. I also purchased the film Not Another Happy Ending. I was really excited to see this film because I had wanted to see it for a while but I couldn't find any cinemas near me that were showing it. It was also at a bargain price of £7.99 which I thought was pretty good for a brand new released DVD. Now the reason why I really wanted to see this film was because it was Karen Gillan's new film and I love her in Doctor Who.

The film stars Karen Gillian as the main character, her character is called Jane Lockhart. She plays a writer but she can only write when she's miserable. Also she suffers from writer's block and she bakes when she is blocked. When she has success with her first book she is very happy and she can't write when she is happy, so she can't write her second book. So her publisher makes it his life mission to make her life miserable so she can write. The problem is the worse he makes her feel he realizes he's falling in love with her.

I really love Jane Lockhart's style in this film especially the outfit at the beginning of the film. I have a hat just like that inspired by her, I also love the trousers in the first outfit and I'm looking out for a similar pair. I just love Karen Gillan so much and I'm so proud of what she has achieved so far after Doctor Who.

This is another film that makes me really want to visit Scotland. I also love the music in the film, I love the song that Emeli Sande sings, the song that is playing when her publisher is trying to get into Jane's cottage to talk to her. I don't know the name of the artist or song sorry. I also love the song I Fall For You by Lorne Balfe and the song Not Another Happy Ending by Lorne Balfe, both versions, I also love the instrumental music in the film too.

Overall I would recommend this film if you like comedies, stories about writers and it's just a great film.

If you've seen the film what did you think of it?

  4. Seems like a great film. You had me at the fact that she's a writer and she does best when she's miserable, and that she suffers from writer's block. That's literally me! Haha, I definitely need to watch it.

  9. I've never heard of the movie before but it sounds like a good watch! I noticed you said you'd bought Filth, I thought that was an amazing but disturbing movie, James McAvoy should have won an Oscar for it!
